Hi... My name is Dawn, and I'm addicted to Scrapbooking.
Journaling is my greatest challenge...and here I am writing about me!
I was a Scrapper when Scrappin wasn't cool! When I was 16 (1989) my friend, Jen gave me a Hallmark Photo Album, that had blank white pages. I filled it with photos and whatever paper I could get my hands on, magazines, construction paper. I know, I know... you should see it! It's awful! Then, for my Wedding Album in 1993, I decorated a sticky magnetic album with photos, paper doilies and our wedding invites and napkins. Sticky Album - Shame on me! Then one day in the mid - 1990's I was walking through the Wal-Mart craft section, when I saw a display with shaped scissors, and booklets of very busy Fiskars paper. I spent $70 that day, and went home on a mission. I stayed up late nights, cropping photos... by the way, my crop jobs were obscene! I started covering photo albums with fabric, and filled them way past capacity. I would develop several rolls of film per month. And take pictures to match the paper I had!
Several years later, I'm still in love with my hobby. How many of you have taken 500 pictures on their one week trip to Disney World... am I the only one with my hand raised? I can't help myself. I've worked at a Scrapbook Store, taught Crop Classes and have signed on with MemoryWorks direct sales program, all to support this crazy habit. In the past I had scrapbooked at home, in between life. You know the feeling, kids, laundry, a screaming alarm clock and a 40 hour work week,"Mom, where's my backpack?" and "Honey, what's for dinner?"
That's why I started offering retreats...so that I could get caught up with my scrapbooks! Caught up? Does that actually exsist? Well, I won't know, until I try - right?
So join me. Pamper yourself. If you've never been to a Scrapbooking Retreat ask your husband for the gift you'll love, or suggest to your kids that they chip in on a weekend adventure for your Mother's Day present. Birthday, Christmas, whatever it takes. Or you can just treat yourself, you've worked hard, you deserve it. I have too, so I'll see you there. I'm counting the days!
